Hi Chaps... Not much riding with all this icy weather (even I have my limits) but off to BlackBear tomorrow for them to have a look at the charging system. Spoke to George & they can have a look (under warranty) on the spot, which is good!

Riders (Bristol) reckon my CR has the latest ECM flash, & I booted the ODIS but it doesn't seem to list the current ECM version number. It did show the battery voltage (very cold) as 11.9, & of course the battery warning light was on. No error codes though, which is good... ;-)

Hope you're all warm & dry... lOl

ODIS is the diagnostic mode on the 1125 instrument thingy... ;-) I can't seem to find the version of my ECM, however...

CCA is rated at a fixed temp. Lower temp = lower cold crank output.

At 12.3v its 50% charged and at 12.7v it is 100% charged. At 11.9v fully charged your battery is shagged for whatever reason that is. The battery on a Helicon/Rotax or XB V-Twin engine needs all the the power it can get. It is part of the nature of V-Twins. I have had both with the same problems and parasitic drain does not help any.

Oh right...

You can read it using the penultimate version of ECMSpy and a Hex editor (I use HxD)...

I am sure the log will... Which numbers are you referring to?

The ones in the att but you should get all you need to know with a meter across the battery.

The problem is that modern battery/charging systems do not work in the same way as the old ones. Standing battery volts is all due to the new type of battery (green) build. Parasitic drain is a big problem these days on any car/bike due to the electronic systems used. Even HD state as much in the manual.
