Hi guys,

I'm looking for an amber front wheel for my XB12S 2005, or the address of a place around SW London where I could get my one sand blasted or powder coated.

Cheers

Hi guys,

Sorry for not introducing myself. My name is Laurent and I live in South West London.
I'm new on the forum, and own a xb12s from 2005.
Replaced the tyres the other day and realised the previous owner put some sealant in the tyres. As it's quite corrosive my front tyre now leaks and I got told I'd need to either powder coat the wheel (didn't find a place where I could get it done the same amber colour), or buy another wheel...

If you can help I'd appreciate.

Cheers guys!

Welcome... It may just be corrosion on the bead, in wich case you can just clean the coroded parts up with scotchbrite when you change the tyre or alternatively break the bead and get your hand in as it were...

Not sure where would powdercoat the same but you could try Triple S or Griff's Reality Motorworks (who I have used a few times). You will probably not get a perfect match although Griff's managed to match Hero Blue...

Cheers Pass! I'll check out these 2 places then.
I guess the perfect matching colour doesn't matter as long as it's not too obvious.

I'll go to a garage 1st and see if they can take the tyre off and clean the corrosion, as this would save me some cash...

I'll let you know how this ends anyway.

Thanks again!!

In the old days :old:
We used to put a tube in it  if the rim or tyre was leaking
Is this still an option :?: or for health and safety reasons , not recommended any more :?:

The problem with tubes is that if you get a puncture you normally get a rapid deflation whereas with a tubeless tyre the foreign object ( I'm talking nail screw etc not Jock ) tends to stay in the tyre allowing only a slow controlled deflation. That is the main reason tubes are not recommended for wheels designed for tubeless.

Didn't think we were allowed to say the J word... :shut: :coat: :uhoh:

Mind you, saying that, they're all probably onto their 8th can of tennants extra by now. Shocking, it's school in the morning as well
