So I keep thinking of doing this but and always put it off but I think now is the right time Lightnight (original model which personally I still think looks the best).

I bought my Buell back in 2008 kind of 'blind'. I have always been brought up around Harleys but through my teens had sports bikes and had a 600 Ninja for a fair while which I decided to sell. I saw the Buell almost tucked away in Dockgate20 and fell for it straight away. As I was only 21 at the time I was unable to take it for a test ride so I sent my dad out to make sure things were mechanically sound. He came back saying that everything seemed fine although he was convinced I would hate it due to the engine and gear box compared to the sports bikes. Well the more he said that the more I wanted it. So I did a deal that day and picked it up the following weekend when the bike had just over 7500 miles on it.

In that first week I already had plans of how it was going to look and started drawing up ideas in my head. A couple of weeks after I got the bike i was fiddling around and noticed that it had a race ECU fitted and K&N filter which explained why i thought it was a little rough. The active exhaust valve was always shut, so a quick trip to Southampton and I had a new Stealth exhaust and a bike that was running great. I then got in contact with xopti to have my maps tweaked and the fueling sorted as it seemed to be running a little rich. This was taken care of and the bike runs sweet. I have also sorted out the breather mod to help the bike run smoother as well as linking both headlights to come on a the same time.

Now my plan is to sell the bike close to standard as everybody has different tastes and styles and I have always seen the Buell as a great platform to start customising. I will be including the exhaust fitted to the bike partly as this adds to the experience of the bike as well as not having any problems with the exhaust valve. A new standard exhaust will also be included. The buyer will of course will have first offer on any of the parts although the renthal bars, rizoma grips and oberon mirrors will be going on my new bike.

The oil and plugs have been changed every 2000 miles and im currently have gear box oil on order so this will be done as soon as it arrives. The rear brake pads were changed at the very end of last year along with the rear tyre and the front pads at the start of this year. The front tyre needs replacing so this will also be done before the bike is sold. I have just put 6 months tax on the bike and the MOT is not due until march and the bike currently has 12400 miles on it. The bike comes with plenty of paper work as well as both keys, owners manual and workshop manual which I have found very helpful when it has come to servicing the bike.

Then only downsides are that the wheels have a couple of marks on them where the paint has started to chip and the only small piece of corrosion is on the front engine mount. The bike is generally in fantastic condition and this has only been helped by being used as a summer only bike and being kept in a warm dry garage on trickle charge when not used.

I have loved owning the Buell as it is a real head turner and people are always interested and willing to talk about them. The bike has never been dropped, raced or given me any trouble whilst I have owned it. I am in no rush to sell the bike as I have left no deposit on the new bike and if I have to wait then I will as I am more than happy to keep the Buell until next year.
