Where abouts do you live in NZ? I have a friend who lives in Mount Maunganui, except for the next three weeks when he's staying with us. I've been over 3 times and it's just as good as everybody else has said. Next time I'm going to hire a bike unless I can persuade my mate to get one.

Hello River, welcome to the mad house. I used to live in Christchurch; a few moons back, worked on the ferrys between the Islands as an engineer on the " MV Aritika", a great old boat now defunk I expect. Good roads over there on par with Scotland though less pot holes, enjoy

I live in Auckland. Sandy beaches, pohutakawas, One Tree Hill, blue Waitemata Harbour. Favourite rides: Highway 16 to Welsford via 2,000 corners on a Sunday morning. Or the 100kms out the Seabird Coast to Kaiawa to pick up some fresh snapper fillets for a summer BBQ. Or take the day and do the Coromandel Peninsula loop. Buell Heaven. Have I made you two homesick yet?
