No.
After the aforementioned long and helpful chat with Steve, we decided that I would be better off bringing the bike to the dealership where I originally bought it which is about 8 miles from me instead of the trip to Newmarket which is about 70 miles.

I have refrained from mentioning the (dealer's) name on here in order to avoid the inevitable trolling and because the matter is not yet resolved one way or the other.
However, the lack of help and poor form (IMO) I'm being shown makes me question the previous decision and consider a trip to Newmarket; of course, I have no guarantee that BB would know how to fix the XB either, although they would probably have a clue! ;)

No, that's not necessary and would be too easy for someone in your position

:yup:

This is going to be one to watch I guess and I'll be very glad to post the findings (if there actually are any!) to let everyone else know.

There's part swappers (guys you're involved with) and proper mechanics who will understand the systems involved and investigate them accordingly

I don't doubt you for a second!
Pity really.

I know you're already in touch with BB, mate, but don't be put off by the distance. As long as Jon and Steve are there, it's the only place this side of Manchester you should be taking your Buell.

Garrett, I'm sorry to say this, but you were warned, you muppet! ;)

It's not some blind loyalty thing that makes large numbers of us drive big miles to Newmarket.

Nor is it the fact that Steve is such a decent bloke, although he is, so BB have a better attitude to Buell than any other HD dealer.

The reason we go to BB?

It's Jon.

It's that simple.

Al

PS I could point out that I did find Anchorage HD-Buell very helpful, and San Jose Buell in Costa Rica were ok too, but that would just be showing off! 8-)

It's true he worked a miracle on my bike. It's well worth the ride up there. I live in Croydon so it's the same journey for me but worth it. Even if you have to get a van to take it up there do it. I suspect your bike is with a HD dealer in the Chelsea area. Am I right?
Well I wouldn't trust them muppets with my bike again the blokes that work in the shop and the parts guys are ok that's it there not interested in buells. Get it up to BB were they will look after your bike.

I fully accept that I should have decided differently much earlier, but I guess we learn from mistakes
I can only say in my 'defence' that the advice to leave the bike with the dealership with which I bought it came from someone well respected and who gave me confidence that it should be okay to do so.

I have contacted Buell U.K. and asked for suggestions and questions about the warranty and my rights, and decided that I will 'rescue' the bike from it's current resting place and find a way to get it to Black Bear.

Latest:
It has been decided that it is in the interests of both myself and the associated dealerships if the bike stays where it is for the time being.

I can only hope for a swift resolution to the problem as I'm sure the mechanics working on it do (then I would stop calling up asking for progress reports).

You're always in good company here, Garrett.

Best of luck with getting the bike sorted. If you fancy a Box Hill rideout when you're back on the road, give me a shout. Occasionally some Ukbeg-ers can be found lurking there...

- update -
I have been told that the problem is an incorrectly machined crank case. The dealer has decided that it would be better to replace the crank, flywheels and crank case (I think that's all). Those parts for my bike were apparently not in stock in Europe and were the major reason for the delay in repair (IIRC).

The parts have now arrived from America, and the XB should be ready soon - sooner than mid-July, the first estimate

Great news.

I managed to find a Vespa 125 for £250 and will now use it to buzz back and forth from work - great fun (and you can store more than a credit card under the seat)!

There will be much celebrating when I finally get the XB back, after only riding it for about 20 days, I have forgotten what it's like.

I have the bike back now :D

Riding it is like a new experience. The whole palaver with the dealer depressed me and ruined my confidence with them :(

They have offered me some cursory compensation, but I will be discussing an alternative to their offer soon.

In the meantime, it's great to have the XB and I'm very glad I chose it. I can now save up the money for an aftermarket can and think about another tail section.
Anyone selling theirs?
