Reading the forum with interest re: exhaust upgrades and fuelling issues.

Is this a solution or a waste of cash? http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/a ... =486&s=&a=

Is the cat in the muffler of our bikes, so getting a new pipe removes it? Can I go down the homebrew gut-out/aftermarket (such as Remus) and just get a race ECM?

http://www.ebracing.com/shop/product31.html

Also, how difficult is it to remove the ECM if say I did want to post it to Holland?

Hmm, well, a set of pre-08 headers (S0101.1AAA) will cost you £235 from Jersey HD, two gaskets (65324-83B) will cost you £12.50, a posh filter £35, a Stealth will cost you £350, or a Remus or Free Spirits will cost you £650. So we are up to between £600 and £900 depending on your exhaust, which means your ECM is costing you between £150 and £450.
There is such variability in Buells, that can you be sure a map generated on one bike will be optimum for another?

Also, 98bhp? Seems a bit high to me.

There is a new tuning guide coming out any day, and with that, you can set up your own ECM based on the experience of others.

Easypeasey

I hate to be negative, but I hate to see people throwing their money away. Hang on a minute, maybe I am just tight...

Thanks again Pash. Including the parts references is much appreciated.

From your post, are you advising that I curb my impulsiveness and wait a few days until the new tuning guides come out?

The best option for me is just the can and map, and to be honest I'm only considering the full monty in anticipation that any alteration will cause fuelling to go fubar.

Was hoping that someone from here may have gone down the stage 1 route, but apologise if these kinds of queries are being raised too often.

Even if I did get that ecm for that can, it might not be right for the bike? Or it might reset itself not long after leaving the garage? Bloody grrrrrrrr.

I'll wing 'em an email anyway and see what they say. I don't speak cloggy, but thankfully their English looks better than mine.

I can't help but notice the TPS reset, which is apparently advised EVERY time you start up??! I thought I remembered reading that you don't need to do the TPS reset on 08+ models.

I have an 09 XB1200XT. .Have put a K&N hi flow air filter...drilled holes in the air box.and fitted a remus exhaust. All is well and the bike runs like a dream, and it now has none of the rough running in slow traffic.

Hi Potts,
Where did you drill the holes ? in the airbox cover ?? or where ?

Any pics ?

Anyone ever had the lads in Twin do their stage one thing on a XB12 ? if so just wondering if it was worth it ???

Thanks.
Eric.

There are plenty of holes already in your airbox...
