I would like to see (on logged data) what happens when you leave it for half an hour, it starts and sounds like crap, then you give it the beans. Doing this will get lots of air to flow through the filter and cool it down. Will it then run OK?

How many logs do you want? ;) 100? 200? 500? I have tons of those, as this is THE typical situation when I'm playing with maps. Do a run, come back home, need about an hour to analyze and adjust, go for the next turn and so on. Airbox temperature is rising about 30-40 degC within an hour, it takes about 10-15 minutes to cool down, depending on air flow.

IAT position isn't optimal IMO, as I would assume the most air directly flowing from the snorkel's hole (for <2007 models), not directly over the IAT, although I guess, air flow will be turbulent enough.

Just one off ph's bike to see what is happening. Would like to compare it to what mine does...

Had the service rode home the long way round no problem. Took the bike out for the 2nd ride since service and front header piped vibrated loose. Fixed it at side of road, about an hour later and the bike started in crap mode. Poor idle, poor running. Since then I put it down to the header popping off but to be honest it was so close to the service that I really can't say weather is was the service or the exhaust at fault. Before then, for 40 miles, it ran lovely - I so I remember.

So you want Powerizer and Pipercross off?

Ideally yes.

To me, the Powerizer is a diversion from the truth...

Tell you what, I will run two tests, with and without Powerizer/Pipercross - it can't hurt. Never know, my bike may fail in one of them.

Just need to figure out how to use this ECMspy?

Out at my bike last night.

Have the air filter tray off.

My garage was probably about 5 degrees C or lower.

With my meter set to resistance I got a reading of 75 from the IAT sensor.......very scientifically I then breathed on the sensor for about 30 seconds and then took another reading and it was 45.1

So seems the resistance changes as the temp changes which would seem to indicate the sensor is working or at least doing something !!

So think I might go ahead a try fit some kind of heat shield under the tray......will see whats available form local motor factors and is cheap !!

Eric.

I'd be tempted to whip the header off, and refit it with a new gasket. Can't do any harm and would rule out any exhaust leeks.

Well I did buy a couple of gaskets, not yet fitted. I did recently tighten the front header. Although I would like to replace both gaskets just so I know it's been done I would only change the front one cause its a real pain to remove the headers completely. Could a small gap in the gasket cause these problems? Is the buell that intolerant?

But is it blowing?

One of the nuts fell off the front header on my S1 and it was still just as nice to ride, just a bit louder!

Yes but the S1 doesn't have all the engine management that mine does? Anyways three nuts came off mine, 2x exhaust nuts and the nut riding it!

Is it blowing? Not that I'm aware of but there could be some light gasses or would you notice them too?
