Hi there, my name is reuben, i dont own a buell but want to ask some advice, hope this be the right place to post, if not i am sorry.

I have been looking to get a new bike, and buell's keep popping into my mind. I would like some advice form anyone out there willing to give some. Some history, i learnt to ride a small bike on a yamha sr250 and also a 50 cc rickshaw for a year in china (brakes were actuall on a pully system that you had to stamp on, stopped within 50 metres ;). Any way i got my bigger bike licence in brisbane australia and they gave me a 900 somthing harley to do the test on, needless to say it wrecked me, cause i been searching for that sound every since. I moved to london for a little last year and got my self a first big bike, a yamaha diversion 900, sensible, and took a 3 week tour down to san sebastian, through the pyrinese over to girona, and came back to london to live 1 year later. I learnt on my travels, that i dont like going really fast, (like over 130kmh) but really enjoy cornering. So i am based in london now and wanted to get a more fun bike to ride. My diversion weighs 250kg and i am short and light (like 167cm 68kg), its heavy and cubersom, i can do it, but i am wanting something more fun to ride. i was getting interested in a used cyclone... i wanna be able to tour a little, with a pillion if i want, but also be able to weave in traffic and get out of the city for solo missions... the reason i was looking at buells is just cause, on totalllysuperficial level, i cant get away from that intial feeling i had getting on that harley, the twin, the sound and vibration, but hate how a harley corners. the cyclone looks like it might have enough room for a pillion on the seat comfortabally, and quite a low seat height, the ullyses looks like ited be way to high for me... so thats a long story, any advice most appriciated...

kind regards
reuben

You need an XB12S :P I had the Cyclone, and didn't want to get rid of it, but had no choice. I've now got the XB12S, which I now prefer over the Cyclone, and which ticks all of your boxes :P

Well it's better than the Cyclone, that's about the best you can say about it :P It's not a two up tourer, it's a streetfighter. If your missus wants to ride, get her one as well :!:

Bonzo has sunstroke. A Cyclone is so much better than an XB12s two up.

Nice Avatar today Bonzo :D

No, but he did have a razor-M2. Later (post '99) bikes were the best 2-up Buells until the 12X arrived, IMO.

Reuben - As norm says the M2 (post 1999) is a great all round bike :yup: :yup:

It will do all the things you want it to - weigh in at less than 200kgs and have the soundtrack you described in bucket fulls - it corners effortlessly and tours comfortably, once you get the hang of the .....hi-vibes...@...lo-Revs it is fine around town and narrow enough to filter quickly without collecting wing mirrors along the way - BUT most of all it is fun :D :D

- only 10K Cyclones were ever made which suprises me as it is so versatile a bike.

It is nothing like riding a Diversion though so strongly suggest you take a test drive - the wind displaced by the screen just brushes the top of my Arai for comfort even at high speed and I am 5ft 9ins .

According to the peeps that know ( :maz: ) best year is 2001-2002 and try to get one post a good 10K service or your finances could be seriously affected.

Hope this helps - there are a lot of far more experienced and smarter Cyclone riders on this forum who can help you out - but rather like the bike itself - they are quietly refined and getting on with things .............rather than simply being seen to !! ;) ;)

cheers and good luck

Remember 2 things, though.

1) If it is anywhere near a 10k/20k etc service, that can cost way over £500, so factor it into the price.
2) Yellow ones may come with a hint of lavender.

Welcome to UKBEG, Reuben :)

The cyclone is a very capable bike, the X1 also but a sportier look/feel perhaps, both excellent tourers. get the latest one you can, ideally an 01/02 the last they made. These come with the up to date recalls and T storm heads (earlier ones do after a certain year, cant remember off hand what)

Very easy to maintain and service and a LOT cheaper to fix!

Come along to a bike meet or two and have a sit on some and ask a bunch more questions, where in the UK are you .. ?

Edit - London :oooops:
