Hi everybody, forgive me if the answers to my questions are already in here somewhere, I am looking at a 2006 Uly but have a couple of questions,
1 What is the difference between the earlier and later models and can the later mods be applied to the earlier bikes and if they can do they need them?
2 What sort of mpg/fuel range do they give as fuel prices are so sky high these days running costs are a consideration.

Many thanks

Piggy.

Welcome to the Club. 8-)

If fuel prices are affecting your decision on what bike to buy, you'd be better off looking at an Aygo...................

The 06 and 07 are very similar. The 07 has a lower sseat and progressive fork springs, these can be retrofitted. In 08 the engine changed bigtime. New oil pump design, new crank, new ECM etc. In addition, the forks and yokes changed, thicker stanchions and sliders. These changes cannot be retrofitted (with any ease) however I have never wished I had them on my 06 model.

High 50s to low 60s.

You also have about three inches difference in height between the X and XT models, the earlier X is the taller.
I am 5.10 and have an 06 X and on the odd occasion if I get near the gutter and can't reach the kerb I can't touch the ground.
I also have the low seat fitted.

On a run I get mid 50 mpg around town 45ish but I ride it more to enjoy it

Thanks for the info, on the test ride I had no problem with seat height (I'm 6ft) so either someone has fitted a lower seat or it's just not as tall as some people make out.
I'd also read the steering lock was a bit restrictive (hence the question about retro fitting later upgrades) I did notice it didn't turn as tight as my Honda but wasn't as bad as the Ducati I had before, so hopefully I can live with this,I have a very tight space to park the bike in at home but this was not a deal breaker, besides I can always tidy my garage and leave the wife's car on the road!?!
The reason I asked about fuel consumption is I made the mistake of reading the review in the MCN website they have obviously made a mistake as they quoted 15 mpg! If that was correct it would have put me off but anything over about 45mpg is better than I'm getting from my CB1300 and although bhp is slightly lower on the Uly, torque is about the same and it felt OK on the short test ride that I took so I have taken the plunge (for better or for worse, for richer and for poorer etc.......)
and I pick the bike up on Friday.
Wish me luck & I will let everyone know (who's interested) how I get on.

Regards Piggy.
