Hey All,

Has anyone, or does anybody think an XB12S will fit in the back of VW's finest Maxi Caddy vans?
Hoping to collect my new ride in one, its a long way to go find it won't fit, doh!

Any and all experiences welcome of shoving your bike in the back of a van, funny or not.

Wish me luck anyway. Mark.

Is a Maxi Caddy the same size as a Caddy Life?
Then yes.

We use a SWB Renault Traffic for all our long distance UK and European trips with the bike in the back (cos i hate motorway riding, also we carry far to much stuff to pack on to the bike) my Uly screen just flicks on the top of the door frame which has a clearence of 1400mm (you must have the trip tail folded down or it will hit the frame) the van floor is 2400 long and the Uly fits in with a bit of room spare standing in square in the van.

Good luck

I use my transit when picking up a new bike, make sure you strap it down and check for movement as I had a Honda fall down and dent the tank, I also take an old duvet for jamming in any vulnerable space

Yay, thanks Guys.

We are game on then! Yes it's a Maxi Caddy Life van thing.......saves me getting the wife's Caravelle dented, scratched, full of oil/petrol then, no divorce for me now.

Until I turn up with it, oops!

Thanks again, Mark.

I've recently bought a T5 as well lOl It easily fits 2 bikes using front wheel chocks, with a strap between the two bikes and then one each side from the swinging arm to the van floor. Put a bungee around the front brake lever and the bikes are very secure :yup: Doing this doesn't compress your suspension 8-)

I've got one of those alloy ramps but find them too short for loading road bikes, so I made my own two piece ramp that's about 10ft long. It makes loading MUCH easier ;)

Have you had your T5 remapped? The local Black Code Dealer reckons he can get upto 170 bhp out the TDI with a lot more torque. I'm toying with the idea, but would like feedback from someone who's got experience of this before I splash out :D

Lots of advice on re mapping on T4/T5 forum :yup:
Need to be careful who does it though!Could mess up your ECM.
The best is Pendle and Celtic tuning that's what they say.
Doing mine before my next trip with the bike as i found it a bit low on tourqe with all the spares in the back
It's just a 102 so thinking of taking it up to 130,don't fancy going more as people have had problems with clutches and other stuff.

Here is the bike on mine.
I use the anchoring bolts on the side with cargo straps and made a stop attached to front passenger seat.
2000 miles in France and solid. :yup:

Yep, same kind of set up :yup: Except mine isn't as neat as yours. I've got a block of wood in front of my chock to keep it away from the seats lOl

That looks the same as the wheel chock i use in my box trailer .......... I just drop two bolts through it into holes in the floor to stop it moving sideways on the floor (it is against the bulkhead so can't go forward ) then strap the bike down using bar straps and another couple on the rear.
Wheel chocks are also very handy for when you are working on the bike as well ;)

We've recently bought a 1973 Triumph TR5T Trophy Trail/Adventurer, and it fitted in the back of my Renault Megane Coupe......!!!

OK...I confess it was in bits, although the forks were still on the front wheel... lOl

Nice one.....a proper classic that, and very capable green laner 8-) :yup:
If you need cycle parts, they use a BSA Victor frame iirc
