Hi there I'm lilredmachine AKA Ben, I'm presently marooned on the Isle of Wight but am originally from petersborough so I don't have 6 fingers. I've been riding for 7 years, and in that time the only thing that has been my must own is a Buell. Never really found one that clicked and never really had the time to go digging around for one, but one has just turned up under my nose here on the Isle of Wight. So with the swap of my big bore Thunderbird ( ) and a lump of cash my way :P I'm now the owner of an XB12R and look forward to picking brains about it. I also own a heavily modified Street Triple and a 1990 CBR250RR in absolutely mint condition, so it would be fair to say I'm a bit screwed in the head when it comes to bikes.

I shouldn't be too annoying though, as in my spare time (butcher by trade) I mechanic for a friend of mine who does club level racing. Last year we won the NG road racing metzeler street stocks championship on a 5 year old R1, considering we were vs. 2 guys with brand new BSB spec machines and very deep pockets it felt like a triumph lol.

Anyway, look forward to hanging around and asking silly questions and who knows I might even be able to help out around here from time to time. :yup:

Surprised you don't own a chopper.

Thanks for the welcome guys :yup:

Must admit, my main experience is repairing crash damage and suspension setup, with a little engine rebuilding on the side. I'm totally green to Buells and will be asking a lot of questions in the tech forum to try and get myself up to speed quickly. I know they can be finicky beasts and either work or break spectacularly so it should be an interesting experience.

A few pics of the bikes I currently own, Thunderbird is going for the Buell on Friday.

1990 CBR250RR, 20,000 miles, just fitted new downs and a cheapy ebay pipe, new front wheel bearings and a rear disc and she popped through the MOT the other day. Easily the most asked about bike I own.

2010 Street Triple. Daytona front and rear suspension, Daytona brakes and master cylinder, HEL braided lines, fronts out of a Superstock Daytona with K-tech 20 DDS internals. Lots of carbon bodywork including just about the entire rear end. Arrow 3-1 with remap and K&N, two piece Supersprox sprocket with 520 chain

2010 Thunderbird, big bore kit, high flow air filter, short mufflers, Blue/white paint, headlight cowl.

Welcome Lilredmachine,

Nice bikes, esp' the CBR, though I do have a soft spot for Street Triples, particularly the older model with the round head lights, not the updated freaky version. Good choice too, replacing the Thunderbird for the Buell. Surely more street cred'? :yup: 8-)

Enjoy!

Hiya Ben, Welcome, you'll be a grockle rather than a caulkhead then and I suppose ex tractor boy? lOl
Had good times on the Isle o Widget as my kids used to call it, they allways thought it was an adventure going there...car journey, on the boat, more car journey....
