Is the Banke one the one to get or are there others.

None appear to be readily available commercially. Therewas someone here and on badweb some months back selling nice ones he had made up, based on one that used to be available. Sorry for the lack of precision about details, but you can find it by searching either forum.

The best solution is the one Buell used eventually. Weld a bit in.

The improvement afforded by the brace is stunning btw.

Really? What happens?

I am a bit thick in this area and I am struggling to understand what good it does (apart from improving acceleration due to a lighter wallet), so please correct me. See, my understanding is that:

Swinging arm attaches to the engine.
Engine attaches to the frame by two rubber bungs at the back and a rubber bung at the front.
Wheel centres are prevented from twisting (cos all connected by rubber) by tie bars which restrict sideways movement.

Now, since the tie bars are rose jointed, they allow motion up and down and back and forth, which allows the vibration to be absorbed, but not sideways cos they are in compression/tension.

What I see this brace doing in preventing the triangle, hanging down, from moving back and forth, however there is no load back and forth.

At idle, you may see this hanging triangle vibrating back and forth, but is that just excitation at a resonant frequency?

I had a brace welded, looks better than that bolt-on jobby, I might think twice about that if had proper S1W. I read it reduces head stock flex under braking

Steers better - less head shake - feels less nervous in rapid "S" bend flicks.

Before I braced the S3 - in 1998/9, I was investigating Steering Dampers. Not even entertained the idea since.

I can believe it's worth a second a lap, though I'm not going to try.

Well I can believe it anyway - took a good 10mins of my Sunday run lap - 200kms long lap.

I'm now more sedate - The rocket is still new.

Guage and type / make of tube, type of weld.
Can any competant fabricator do it.
Or would that be sacrilidgeous to a proper S1wl
