Welcome!
Are you adjusting the preload on the rear shock when you ride 2-up? These settings and how to change 'em are in the owner's manual. Doing all 3 of your suspension settings (really, really easy to adjust) for preload, compression rebound for the added weight of 2-up riding will change your ride experience dramatically. Unfortunately, though, the added preload on the rear shock will be a step in the wrong direction for your seat height. :?
Sound is usually pretty lousy on youtube, but you can find some vid's of Buells with different exhausts nonetheless. Best to get yourself to a club meet, though, to hear them in person and meet the peeps.

yet another buell virgin here: traded my CCM supermoto for an early XB12XT in shiny black yesterday.

i've had a good old trawl thru the info on here already. looks like a useful place to while away some hours.

my first requirement is for a loud pipe: it has a stainless aftermarket can on an the moment which i cant identify ( no easily visible marks ), but i would say it is fully legal. however, from what i read on here, the exhaust fitment changes between 2007 and 2008 bikes ( header sizes ? ) - so what is the best way to tell what i have ? and therefore what style of can to look for ?

( or am i talking nonsense already ? )

my second requirement is to get the whole thing lowered about 2" since both the mrs and i are vertically challenged. can anyone hazzard a guess at the work which is required to do this properly ? ( new shock and shorten the forks, or a simpler solution )

cheers

hmm, well it appears that they can only recommend a trip to nitron in oxford to get a custom shock made to measure @ around 675 which is a little rich for my taste; theres nothing off the shelf. ( then theres lowering the forks on top. )

i had a quote from Revs in halesowen who will supply a wilburs shock to fit @ either 385 or 585 depending on the choice of shock used ( with / without remote adjustment ) - i know they have done an STT, but not a uly. ( this includes the forks ).

since i need a better shock anyway because the std one is overwhelmed when used 2 up even when wound up to maximum i was sort of resigned to this sort of money.

i have found that they do a hiperpro kit for the uly but that only drops it an inch ( 210 quid for front and rear kit ) - not really enough to be worth doing - i am looking for at least 2-3" ( so i can get some foam back on the seat afterwards - the low seat is like a plank atm ).
