Post subject:  alternative cams for XB

Is there any chance to use some recent 1200cc sportster cams (be it from HD or some third party) in an XB engine that provide a larger overlap than the stock ones? What are the disatvantages except the wrongly positioned key for the rotor cup? The only cams for Buell I know about, are Redshift 585 cams, which provide a similar lift and more overlap, but these cost a fortune in Europe.

I was told by Henery Duga ( the Old Buell Racing Support Parts GURU)you can run other cams from sportsters. just set the positions manually disregarding the marks and re-stake the rotor cup to match the correct position needed. they drop right in he said last time I saw him In Daytona at the track.

he really leaned towards the SE536 cams and the N* as well as N9 cams over all others.

I have never did the mod but thats what I was told from the Buell source.

Tubbs would know. I bet... They may have a set their spare to test on a mock up for you. I dont have any to mock up to test and do a vid on how to do this mod. A how to video would be supper cool to actually have a run through on how it really works on the conversion to other cams. In theory it should be simple. but their is always the But factor of the unknown.
