help needed!
I have a palm m515 does anyone have experience of making up a lead ?
I have a connector for the palm and a MAX232 RS232 to TTL Converter Board I was advised to buy last time I tried to do this. I have looked at the advice on the ECM website but the explanations and circuit diagrams go over my head- is there anyone out there that can tell me solder this to that and that to this which is what I can do

I will have a look for you later, but what is lacking on the ECMSpy description and what inputs and outputs are there defined on your board?

What is lacking? well for an electronic dunce like meI need instructions not diagrams, I attach a picture of the converter, can anyone tell me which wires go where, as you can see i tried once but the palm said there was no connection when I tried it, the online instructions I have seen only give diagrams for power circuits etc which are martian to me :?
I haev looked at everything again and it seems to me that i am missing a power supply to the pda? that's the bit i don't know how to make- It seems i need to use pin 4 on the Deutsch which is 12 volt but then I need a widget :? anyone out there got an easy way to make one with blow by blow advice or even pictures lOl

I am not sure what is at the end of the green wires and the colours, and you should not need the RTS and CTS. Are the joints for the three green wires labelled on the board?

The green wires go to the deutsch plug, but since it was a long time ago that i did this I cannot now remember on what basis I connected them. the other connections i identified on the pinout guide for the connector, please advise which should be connected and which i don't need. the one that is cofusing me especially is the vcc connection as this dosn't relate to anything on the pinout chart for the m515

http://pinouts.ru/PDA/palm_m125_pinout.shtml

GND -> Palm Pin 1 GND Signal- and charge ground
Vcc -> Palm Pin 9 Vout +3.2V supply output, 100mA max. (might be to low to power convertor, depends on chip type)
RxD -> Palm Pin 10 RxD RS-232 RxD signal (input) (or Pin 11, depends on naming)
TxD -> Palm Pin 11 TxD RS-232 TxD signal (output) (or Pin 10, depends on naming)

Where did you get the board from? Any instructions? Any print on the underside?

Here is my guess....

Looks like one of these off EBay:

From here:

and here

I think looking at yours from the green cable end, the connections are, left to right:

RX
RTS
TX
DTR
GND

The green cable end needs to be connected to the Palm and the end where the Palm is needs to be connected to the ECM...

Maybe you are better off with one of these:

and a new board like the one at the top of the page...
