Does anyone know of a good independant Buell tech in the Carlisle Cumbria area ?
nearest dealer is 60 miles, but my Uly is not feeling well at all, I`m having trouble starting and getting it to tick over, if I let off the throtle it just cuts out, I keep a few revs on for a good few minutes before it will tick over on its own. before that it coughs and splutters and backfires. I`ve had issues with it seemingly firing on one cylinder in the wet, but a good dose of silicone spray seemed to sort it. last ime I rode it was 17th December to go home from work and it was rough then. It is a 55 plate with 7300 mile on the clock. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

give the plugs a good clean , or renew them !
the Harley ones are good an cheap too.

Do you give it any throttle when you start up normaly ?
this tends to contaminate the plugs, i was told with my XB not to touch the throttle for a couple of minutes on starting up. HTH :yup:

When I bought it I was told to give it a little throttle only and it has worked just fine, it does`t get any good runs, the last one was in the summer and it felt different then.

New plugs fitted and bike fired up first time, old plugs looked like they had been lying around and rusting.
thanks for the input all it really helped me, I haven`t messed sround with engines for 20 years. had to, bought a set of wobble extensions as advised by the technition at Newcastle Harley Davidson, he showed me on a buell in the workshop, plug spanner rear - 5/8 spanner front. I`ll be back in the saddle tomorrow.

ps yesteday morning was the first time I have ever had to stop and de-ice my visor to see where I was going

Freezing fog? Instant white out? Bitch aint it. It's happened to me twice, I won't ride in those conditions anymore.

Back to what Nutah said, keep off the throttle completely at start-up.
