I thought that at ten years old I should replace them before they snap but am I just likely to give myself a problem for no good reason? I'd like to know which type of extractor is best, whether to use anti seize on the portion that goes in the head and if I am right to think that you just "nip" them in? |

I would suggest don't try and fix what isn't broken If you do want to remove them try the double nut method of trying to screw them out ie lock two nuts together on the stud and then use the underneath one to unscrew stud. |

You don't need lock nuts, any nuts will do. Att could be one so you'll just need one more. |

When they're out, have a look if they're heavily corroded. If so, run a bottoming tap down the hole and give a good blast out with WD40 etc |

Leave well alone. If you break one just take the head off and get it spark erroded. The easy out will just waste money and make more work. £64 for snap off easy out kit lived up to it's name. It's in the bushes somewhere near my shed. Pete |
