Hi For the last week i`ve been trying to reset the tps as the xb is running like shit...(whats new i hear you say) and each time i try to connect, ecmspy cannot find a com port am i doing something wrong, I`ve contacted Gunter and downloaded ECMSPY again,its now on both the pc and laptop...neither of which can detect com port Help Please i need the bike for my commute to work...

Hi, Milky, I just had to get another copy of ECMSpy from forum member, to put on my upgraded laptop. As long as you have got the usb lead software, set your connection to 'com port 5'.
Worked on mine. Hope this helps. Nick

Have you got ignition AND kill switch turned on?

Never did get to the bottom of it.
I still wonder about it now!

Sometimes I wonder if the cable was way to long from my pc to the bike/hardware!

Have downloaded the cable driver and installed it to the pc and laptop,when trying com autodetect through ECMSPY its tries com port 1 comport 2 and comport 7 and then says com port connection has failed...all this has been done with ignition on and kill switch to run...

Thats what I thought too all the time Maz hence me only wondering cos I never eliminated it. I guess you just have though now (but my lead was over 20' long).

You have the exact same problem I had Milkster so I visited Adam!

Hi Gunter` I`ve downloaded the fdti cdm 2.04.16 driver for the lead and i`m spending sometime on the pc to sort this issue....

Did you download the self installing .exe file?

There had been some issues when installing to Win2k (don't know if this applies to the other versions too). The full driver consists of two part, one handles all the USB thingy, the second one installs the virtual serial port.

If the second part fails, you are in a kind of dilemma then, because windows will not re-start installation as the USB hardware had been installed already, and this is all that would trigger a new install.

The only workaround I know is to deinstall the USB driver, disconnect cable, reboot, reconnect cable. The usual "new hardware found ..." assistant should pop up and then proceed as usual.
