They all do that sir And if that's all a little bit sweating it's not too be worried about! But it could be a good reason for buying more cool buellparts

Have been looking for some of these for some time but haven't found a good set with the installing tool included for a normal amount of money. |

Have been looking for some of these for some time but haven't found a good set with the installing tool included for a normal amount of money. Yes I made them. I saw them on St Pauls for ~$100 a pair and thought I could make them myself easy enough. In the US they were using 3/8 x 16 tap for this which is ~9.5mm so I made these ones M10X1.5 with 7mm tube so I should only need an M10x1.5 tap and a long 5mm allen key to install them. If my Tbar allen keys are not long enough Ill probably cut a piece off an old 5mm and braze it to the end of a longer screw driver. Edit: Thinking about it I can probably drive them in from the tube end with a normal length allen key as the 7mm hole I drilled goes all the way to the allen key slot. Once I have fitted them and confirm they work ok I could knock up some more if there is interest. Cheers Stot |

Stripped the top end this weekend. The copper pipe fits down the hole in the crank cases with room to spare so I ran an 8.5mm drill down an inch or so of the oilway, it took maybe 0.5mm out, and tapped it M10x1.5. The inserts go in nicely and can be driven in through from the tube end. They will need to be bent to be perpendicular to the base and parallel to the sleeve before assembly. If I ever need to take them out I would need to find a longer allen key to do it from the top but I cant see that I ever would Will follow up when I get it all back together. Cheers Stot

I had 3d printed guides for threading and bending the tubes but I split the first one bending it into position. I think because the tube is 0.2mm thin wall tube, I was bending too close to the solder joint and also the tube needed an additional annealing. I think If I had threaded another 5mm deeper into the oilway so the joint was well beyond the base of the cylinder it wouldn't have been a problem as you're trying to bend it right at the base. The next two fitted no problem with care and a quick blast with the torch to freshly anneal. Trial fit went together perfectly so I cleaned it all up with a light hone, decoked pistons and new gaskets and its now waiting for the freshly painted heads to go on. Cheers Stot
