Hi after everyone thoughts, my XB9 died coming back from the Isle of Man, and I now have a 1200 engine, What I am unsure about is :
a) do I strip the 1200, and rebuild the xb9 cases with the crank, barrels, pistons and injector body. ?
b) use the 1200 as is, ?
is the 2006 engine much better than the 2003 ?
not too worried about matching numbers as bike will have original engine too.

If it’s the 2006 model year you will get the more robust oil pump drive gear.
You’ll obviously need to change your ECM content for the 12, the 03 ECM won’t have a pin for the exhaust valve so if you want to use that you’ll need a newer ECM and you’ll need to fabricate a bit of wiring harness and find a servo motor. Also, the 9 headers will strangle the 12 a little.
Apart from that it should fit fine...

Thanks,
I already use larger headers, and will get the ecm re flashed.
I was under the impression that the 2006 already had a better oil pump gear. Is there a thread for changing this ?.
Thanks
Kevin
