Any advice on which make of gear indicator is best suited to a Ulysses. Finding it difficult to remember which gear I'm in !!! |

hehe... You'll get used to it. I count up and down automatically, its a good practice  You'll get used to the sound too. |

Seriously, is this a piss take ?....FFS I don't want to get personal or insult anyone BUT really ?.....are you sure you should even be riding a motorcycle ? What works better, your eyes looking at a display to say what gear you're in or letting the clutch out and the engine lugging/over revving ? the right gear is only a shift away ! Do you drive a car ? does it have a gear indicator ? if not, how do you know you're in the right gear ? This should be instinctive, a Buell has shed loadsa torque and will allow you to get away with too high a gear but the red line will soon be hit in too low a gear

Sorry for asking a question, I'm not a experienced rider and just thought it may help whilst I got used to the bike, I've had a Harley and a X1 before but have spent the last 8 years riding classic Scooters. I'm not an idiot as people may think, it's just most modern bikes do have a gear indicator. Sorry for asking a sensible question and upsetting you all. 😬 |

If you look for gear indicators, double check if they will work for a XB. Most speed sensor will send only a very small number of pulses per each revolution of the front sprocket, but the XB sends about 40 and not every gear indicator can cope with this. |

| wot Pash said and Gravy there are a lot of self righteous pricks on here who would rather attack the new boy than help you and then they moan that the forum has got really quiet, seriously mate if you want a gear indicator do your own research and fit one! Fuck `em all (most) i say!!

You might be able to answer a question for me if you're into classic scooters. I recently was shown an old Triumph scooter, rotting away in a shed, under a tarp. It had an inline twin motor that Triumph put into 2 Trials Cub frames, and was apperently quite good. The Triumph Boss didn't like the idea and ordered them to be sawn up. One escaped, being smuggled out by someone in the Competition Dept, and is now in the Sammy Miller Museum - I think. I'm quite tempted to build a replica as a project, if I can get hold of a doner motor. All the body work is extremely corroded, and the motor doesn't even turn over. Have you any idea of a ball park value of these things? I've no idea about them at all
