Hi All, I have a problem that has made me scratch my head...... I was out on the Uly and all of a sudden it dumped a load of oil out all over the Right hand side of the bike and back tyre... I had the get it picked up, I first thought it was a split in the oil filter but cant fined a split or hole. I have change the oil and filter and checked the oil pipes and cant find anything wrong and worried it will do it again and this time ``I will not be so lucky......... Any idears????? |

Gearbox breather hose burnt through on rear header ? |

I wouldn't even think about trying to clean up that tyre. Bin it! |

Yeah, wouldnt fancy leaning over with that tyre on....... Did you find where the oil came from ? I know it appeared at the bottom of the bike but doesnt mean it hasnt leaked down from higher up and pooled.........have a look up higher and see if you see anything. Eric. |

I was there yesterday at the car park when l suggested the oil pressure switch.......but l hadn’t seen the extent of splash from these earlier pictures. On second thoughts the spray pattern and direction looks wrong for just below the oil pump and when a switch goes it keeps on spraying until all the oil is gone!  As Maz has hinted at, what is the gear oil level?

| jeez what a mess, I hear talk of re-routing hoses, crankcase filters, & catch cans, on XB's is all that some form of mod? or would checking on oil level's and hose protection like a heat wrap be an advisable route? "food for thought"

My X1 looked a bit like that a few years ago when the cam cover gasket split at the rear of the case . |
