 Post subject: xb starter problem

XB12r having problems starting, good battery can hear the
The small relay clicking, and have swapped just so I can rule them
out, if I try for long enough times it sometimes will start ok but it is getting worse.
When it wants too it turns over ok, I am thinking starter solenoid
Any ideas.

I know you say you've ruled out the battery, but it sounds like it's the battery :P

Definitely not the battery, when wants too it will turn over, then next time its dead,
Then keep pressing the starter nothing and bang it starts.

I did think that myself at first but can hear the relay clicking when the button is pressed.

so your saying badly I might add, :) the starter fooked/solenoid can it be repaired, can I do it myself or is another job for Maz!

Don't know what access is like to the starter, but you can jury rig up some wire which by passes the switch, then if it cranks 100% of the time then you'll be able to pin point the problem at the switch. If it's only spinning over the same amount as at the moment, then the lightly-hood is that there is some corrosion on the solenoid, opening up and cleaning / light lubrication would solve that.
