I'm interested Nick, how much do you think you'll be able to knock these out for? |

Lacy wrote: I'm interested Nick, how much do you think you'll be able to knock these out for? [cost of tube] x [spacer length] / [tube length] + [£1 donation towards tool wear, electrickery etc.] + [jiffy bag] + [postage] About £4.60 each (30% of that is stamp and envelope - unit cost will be less if you have more than one) which is under 30% of the cost of one from HDB. <why am I justifying such a low cost?> I'll trial one out first. If the tube is here by the weekend I'll take some to Jacks Hill on Sunday (if there are any left). |

I have also noticed this on a spare set of wheels I purchased, ended up using my original spacer. I could do with 1 maybe 2 and I'm going on sunday !!! |

Had the same problem with crushed spacer, would go through a set of bearings in 1k miles. I made one out of stainless tube on me lathe, yes it weighs more but no more failing bearings YET. At the time know body could give me dimensions of the spacer so i bought a genuine to get the exact dimensions. I'm surprised none of the aftermarket retailers dont sell a upgraded spacer kit for our bikes. So its a great post Nick, should be a sticky or in how to. Check your spacer folks. |

I would have done them out of stainless but I can't find any 20mm ID pipe/tube with a wall thickness greater than 1.5mm and I don't really want to blunt my 20mm drill carving them out of barstock... |

We may get let down by postage since they are 30mm in diameter... So it may e £2.80 in stamps... Pickup at Jacks Hill will be way cheaper... |
