Hi All, Uly is backfiring and gradually becoming worse. Popping is excessive but backfiring is starting to impact driveability. Is the ignition timing purely controlled and adjusted via the ECM and are there any adjustments or possibly common faults that could impact the valve timing on this motor? |

Also, could the exhaust actuator cause it to backfire? |

That doesn't sound good. I am guessing it is a standard can. Are the exhaust gaskets leaking? Again, pull the plug on the actuator if you like, but I don't think it is your issue. |

I would also check CPS, temperature sensors, IAC (does it close properly?) and AFV. |
