Hi all.

I'm a new member to your forum and new to Buells in general.
I bought a 10 plate XB12XT at the start of April and have so far covered about 800 miles on her.
She's now covered nearly 6000 miles with stamps in the book at 1000 miles and 5000 miles.
I'm enjoying the bike after coming from sports based bikes but.........

What's with the low rev's stuttering and general poor performance at slow speed town riding????
I've had a look at this and other forums and found that it only served to confuse me more.

1. Can anyone tell me if there is ONE cure, or is the problem only solved with a number of fixes.
2. Can anyone tell me if I can take my bike to someone to have the required work done.

I'm quite handy and wouldn't mind doing small works myself but I work away most of the time and just want to ride when I get home, not spend hours in the garage.

Hoping for a fix soon, the problem doesn't stop me riding, I would just enjoy it more :D

Thanks in advance for your time and effort to help me out.

Are you sure there's a problem, or are you just expecting it to behave like a multi?

Maybe you just need to adopt your style, and use the clutch a bit more around town.

Please tell me to piss off if I sound patronising, but you did say your background is sports bikes ....

Hi Digger.

I have been altering my style and using the clutch more.

I'm led to believe, what I consider a to be a problem, can be fixed to enhance my enjoyment of the bike and was looking for comments regard such fixes.

Thanks.

Hi Pash.

What's a TPS reset?

Can this be done by myself or is it a dealer fix?

Thanks.

Yes, TPS reset first. Your fix, after that, may be more computer-based than mechanic-based, as the tuneable fuel injection system of these bikes allows adjustment of fuel maps. There is far more information here in the old posts, as well as in the head of several of the forum members, about tuning, and the ECMSpy programme, and data-logging, than could ever be summarized in a quick post.

What do you define as low revs :?: Anything below 3k will be a bit lumpy, and don't even attempt 2k lOl

Thanks for your info Motorad.

Have done the TPS reset and it seemed to help but not cure the problem.

Bonzo.

When a bikes limiter comes in at 7000 rpm, I would consider 2000 rpm to be low revs. Any thing much above that would be mid range wouldn't it ?

DrBuella.

Thanks for your educated and informative response. I think they must have thrown the best part away when you were born.

I ride an 09 XT on which I have covered just over 11k miles. I have done the breather mod and run some extra earth leads plus regular TPS resets, none have made it run any better in slow traffic.
I just keep the revs at 3k or above which makes it better or use my Guzzi V11 in town which potters around slowly as well as my old Honda C90 did.

OK then you could try a breather re-route, changing the headers for the larger pre 08 size, try a race map for starters..
All 08 onward bikes were strangled for emission reg's!

You'd think so, but that's too low for the Buell :P

PS - I just noticed you're in Loughborough, I'm moving to Quorn next week lOl
