As stated, how tuneable is a standard '09 CityX I have sold a few months ago my '06 with race ecm, remus, k&n.....did the w/w/mod, breather mod too...... also I tweaked the MAP a bit for mid stage to WOT riding that lifted the front wheel enuff .. (via ecm spy) ![]() So looking at getting a new bike, 09 CityX with thunderstorm engine(obviously) I heard they are not as tuneable .... crap or not ..? Will I be dissapointed with it or not ... power wise(out the bag)....? ![]() Appreciate your reply's ![]() Wouldn't mind an answer from a tech head please dudes asap ..... ![]() |

I can't help feeling you're setting yourself up for a caning here..... the best tuning you can do to any Buell is suspension, brakes, tyres and rider. The rest just ain't really worth bothering with. If you want horses, get a multi. If you want grunt, you've got it ![]() |

Well at least someone answers .... if they want a caning .... bring it on ... ![]() I am asking about ECM tuning, ex. pipes, etc..... the dude that bought my old '06 told me he knew that the latest model('09) engine is bogged down with ecm issues that are a bastard to get around ... so I am asking a genuine question... I had tweaked my race map on my old '06(yep I did that), it was a better delivery completely .... I aint no dick ...... just want someone to put me straight on hearsay mate. I understand what yr stating, just hoping someone can see thru the quick smart answers to get to what I want .... ![]() thanks again bud - appreciate yr honesty ![]() |

Buy an AST shock and you will notice the difference. The rest is down to your ability as a rider. A good rider can keep up with Jap bikes with twice the power on normal roads. |

08 onwards Buells are stiffled by Euro 3 regs and cannot be fettled with EcmSpy etc. due to the new management system. You will be majorly disappointed with an 09 model ......especially the 9 ![]() |

rolla wrote: May just build a bobber .... They are great bikes, they don't need much out of the box but, IMO, if the power isn't enough, you need to look at other Euro manufacturers rather than thinking you can do much to them. Have you ridden one yet? How did you find your '06 before you did the work on it? And, of course (I know others are itching to say this) check out an S1/X1 before you think of the bobbers. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Norm, No I have not ridden an 09 model, I cant honestly think how different it will be, hopefully it should run better than my 06 model, that's why I'm a bit dubious as mine ran like a sack of sh1t before I got ecm doofer attached........ Can the old ecm doofer still attach to the TPS etc ... ? I am thinking not, but be good to hear so too .... I reckon it will be blocked comm's basically ..?... any input is appreciated ... I'm not into the tubers really, (I will for sure come off bad too ![]() ![]() Should have done that anyhow before I got sad an sold it........ A few beero's an yr post is warming me up again ..... ![]() |

TPS on 09 is reset without any additional kit. See the How To section. |
