Post subject:  ecm issues

I purchased an xb9r-03 two years back and the owner said it had the race-ecm. Whilst checking the cable for the 02 sensor I noticed the ecm was exactly the same as the one that he had sent and said was stock (same serial numbers and so on) I've just recently purchased the ecm-spy cable so i've referenced both the eeprom and the fuel maps of each ecm since I'm unable to get hold of the maps for the race ecm and am rather unwilling to pay for a new one only to find that the stock has been altered. Have I been screwed over or is there something else I should be looking at. I am rather new too ECM spy and very grateful for all and any help

Thanks/

Michael

P&A ("race") and stock ECM differ in maps and timing tables only. Hardware and firmware is identical. Swapping EEPROM from race to stock makes a stock ECM a race ECM.

As long as ECMs are like for like, i.e. you would be foolish to try and put the EEPROM (.txt) from a GB231 into an IB310 or CB060 (assuming the version of ECMSpy allows you to do this - xopti will tell you all about the pitfalls of doing this)...

The maps (.msq) are interchangable though...

A lot of the early ecm's were not marked race etc they were just standard ones reflashed at the factory.
Mine is like this on my 03 Lightning.

How do you tell the difference?

Top right of the EEPROM page, click on the tab...

Merci.

Is there a repository of maps and eeeproms anywhere?
I'd be interested in trying the race eeeprom (IB310 version), as I have a freer flowing exhaust on my bike now.

...but the eeprom maps are identical on both ecm and even the firmware BUECB050 and firmware 70:EUROPEAN are the same and so are the timing tables??? :?

does this mean even if I can get a hold of the maps for a race ecm, if mine aren“t flashed that i shouldn't copy them to the stock ecm and am just better of purchasing a new??

Erm, by a process of elimination, I would say they are the same...

That's what I was thinking but I'm a chef so I figure if there's no sugar, yeast or chocolate involved I should probably ask!! ;)

you'd think... but they do need pastry chefs here too and since I'm not Swedish by birth I guess I don't meet the "swedish meatball-chefs-association" standards :D
