just done complete overhaul of a front caliper ,lever travels about 25 MM then to get solid feel to it ,1/2 inch m/s ,my bleed proceduer ,pistons fully in ,kept in by strong foam ,brake line purged from the nipple to m/s of air ,nipple locked off ,pads int caliper now pumped out to disc ,lever tie wraped to handel bars closeing circit and pressure gently bleed out from nipple then locked off ,pistons now pushed fully in starting with the small lower pair first then center pair & finnaly the upper large pair thus purgeing, HOPEFULLY any sticking bubbles up through the transfer galleries and out the bleed nipple lock off , release lever ,pump out pistons and repeet ,still have about 25 mm of travel to a solid feel , HMMMMMMMMMMMM ,is this kind of travel the norm

If you are questioning it, I would say no, it is not normal, it should be as firm as your XB lever. I reckon there is still air in there...

Cable tie the lever tight to the handle bar and leave it overnight, then in the morning cut the cable tie and pump the lever.

I thought it was an old wives tail, but I have had success with it.

I reckon the air bubbles get smaller with the pressure and find their way to the top easier...

cheers doc ,recon smaller bubbles have less chance of sticking int system dude ,wonderd if the pistons were slightly larger int early caliphers and with 1/2 bore M/S displacment ratios would be differnt giveing a slightly longer travel ,tie wrap it is DUUUUDE :yup: :D :D

Was the system fully empty when you filled it? If you are using DOT 5 you can get water collecting at the bottom which may never come out cos it doesn't mix with the fluid
If you are 3, 4 or 5.1 you should be ok for the water...
