As the title says, I just want to know if there are any disadvantages to doing this while pinning the bike at WOT.

I had to un-learn that technique when I went back to a Buell.

Just don't do it.

A certain degree of mechanical sympathy is needed, as has been said, can you afford a screwed gear box .... besides, what's the hurry ... ?

I assume that you're talking about a 1125 and not an XB ? Hopefully the Rotax gearbox is made of Austrian cheese !

May be worth enquiring on BWB ...

On my 1125 I have taken to clutchless shifting on the way up when pushing on. Not at WOT but lightly backing off there is no reluctance mechanically from the gearbox, with it slightly unloaded.

If you're shifting at WOT, it implies that you're not backing off a tad while shifting. This means the pinion dogs are still loaded etc. Missing a gear with the motor pinned at WOT could be expensive. The std quickshifter on my 1198 kills the ignition for a few milliseconds to allow a smooth shift. I never use it though, I'm a bit old skool about using the clutch on the road lOl
Having said that, the 1125 box does shift nicely without a clutch.

Sorry Yes it is regards to the 1125 motor, I myself know how to non clutch up (wot - blip throttle change gear at the same time - back to wot) but have never tried it on me bike, iam normally a one finger guy on the clutch, though have to use all me phlanges on the old ztl2 brake lever.

A lad I go riding with said he normally does it when pinning his bike.
I thought it might be a good idea cutting down on the clutch movement wearing down the seals  .
Though I have to say changing down with the slipper is a nightmere - I do still get a fish tail.

On the Cr I tend to clutchles upshift most of the time ..............on the roads around here 1125's tend to get a bit lively on all the bumps so when really sending it on using the clutch sometimes isn't an option lOl and on the 1125 the gears snick in silently ;) ...always use the clutch changing down though :D

I unload the throttle, and change up regularly on my XB with no problems, But then I've had agricultural BMW gearboxes to deal with for years, Especially helps to smooth things out if you take a pillion.

Never had a problem up or down and I like to keep my hand in for the inevitable failure that is always pending.

What is the latest clutch news?

Adam?

I think Oberon are working on a MK2 version, which may include a new cover as well.

Dunno, not seen it yet. I think it's on Blackrags bike at the moment :?

I've not really kept up to snuff with the progress, since my 'need for speed' is currently being satiated by a pretty little Italian filly lOl
