Post subject:  1125 clutch fail - again!
I'm getting pretty pissed off with this now :x After 5 sets of seals and a new Rev B cover complete with internals, sleeve etc, my fekin clutch hydraulics packed in again today on my way back from Snowdonia. I was just thinking about what a fantastic bike it was and went to change gear....and nowt, no fekin pressure at all. After 60 miles of riding clutchless and some pumping of the lever to stop at a cross roads, the pressure came back again and is still ok. I don't think the vacuum assist is pulling the fluid internally, because I've disconnected and bunged the pipe :roll:
I love this bike to bits, but I just can't trust it and don't want to be pulling it apart every 200 miles :roll:

If anyone has got a A cover or a Rev B (don't care how damaged it is) then please sell it to me - I'm going to try a cable conversion.
I hear a whisper that Oberon are working on a mod for these clutches - anyone know anything about this?

I'm glad to know that Buells are still... well... Buells.... :hehe:

Good luck with the conversion btw. I have a fetishism for shiny metal parts, so I'd be very interested in a thread about the conversion. After all, an 1125 is still on my list of bikes to own. :sun:

been looking into clutch slave and making replacement with a different seal system but haven't managed to get bike in to test results yet.........

also is it an external leak or internal we only have an early one to play with at the moment with an external leak......

Since the Rev B cover was fitted, I've only hadinternal leaks, but last time there was no leak, I just lost pressure and then a 5 miles down the road the pressure returned. I didn't ride for a week, went 2 miles on it and lost pressure again. There was no air in the system either. I've been speaking to Steve at Oberon and he's on the case, as you know ;)
I've made a cover for the clutch with a lever that connects to the 10x1mm release pin. Will be having more time at the week end to make a clutch cable and see if the leverage is ok. It don't look pretty though :shock: lOl

Tin hat on + ready for the piss taking. Remember, this is just a very rough mock up, done on Sunday evening and put on hold until last night when the 10X1mm nuts for the release pin, arrived off BeGay. It works, with a hefty pull on the clutch lever but the 6mm dural base plate bends where the cable enters and ruins the mechanical advantage. I'll try it with some 10mm plate (I think I know where I can blag some from ;) lOl )
The final version will look a bit prettier than this ;)

The price of "progress" eh :?:

(remind me, how many years cars have had hydrailc clutches, and when was the last time you heard of one fail :?: )

Sadly, I have to agree Steve. A superb machine spoiled by this kind of oversight. Is having it on the road for one Summer too much to ask? Last year I was shafted by the leaking water pump :roll:

I had to replace one on my SAAB once - but it had done 250k miles lOl
