Relax Bud, I dont think Gunter is planning on hacking the ECM, however a log may help trace the fault, be it a faulty sensor or a leak as you suggest (identified by a large AFV or EGO correction).

Apologies if I have misunderstood Gunter ;)

GG sorry.. perhaps i'm sounding like a old hag :old:
( i was supriced my user name was not already taken, registrating again after a long time not posting here )
i do not mean it like that, Gunter knows that ( i hope )

but sometimes things are as simple as the look,

i replace intake seals so many times, that is almost a factory job..very boring.
and can spot one now a days
just by lisening to the bike at idle ( change from closed / open loop after start up )

the signs, bad sputtering @ low rpm, AFV @ 128 very fast after a reset , O2 sensor dtc
all tell the same thing.

Arrgh! I have a lot to check, and little time to do it, as this weekend is a bank holiday in the states (off caging with the family). Thanks so much to all - I think we all agree - no monkeyin' with the fuel maps until the basics are sorted out! I'll re-check for intake leaks w/ a touch of spray (WD-40 works well also). And then go into the other stuff I have already mentioned. I will post again once I have an update, and the chance to log again (this time w/ megalog active).
...at least I have the Thumper (a Blast) to play with while tearing apart the XB. Now there's a bike even Maz could love!

And run a log FFS.

Got a help call yesterday from someone who struggled with his bike for almost three years (!!) and it took us only 10 seconds to find the culprit by just watching the log.

OK, Gunter, I will log again, before tearing into the basic mechanical stuff. As I mentioned, I am new to ECMSpy, so I am still trying to figure things out. I thought I was logging when I was riding:

In ECMSpy "program options" window, I had "use Megalog format" checked, and under that, "use AFV for Geco Calculation" also checked. Is there something I missed in setting up before logging the ride? Or is there something I have to do at the end of the ride to save the log file to programs/ECMSpy/megalog folder?

I hate to bother everyone with one-off questions like this - there doesn't seen to be a more all-encompassing guide to ECMSpy and logging, beyond the "Tuning Guide," which is geared mostly to tuning the maps, and not basic logging, diagnostics, etc. I have tried to glean what I can from whatever sources are out there, but I still get stuck on some of these basic ones. I have searched several forums (or is it "fora"?) for how-to threads - can anyone point to a good place to start for this kind of basic "ECMSpy owner's manual?"

I'll do a *How To* for logging when I get time...

There's a floppy-shaped icon that toggles logging. It also shows a tool-tip that says "logging".

Tried attaching my log file from program files/ecmspy/megalog/... but the web site tells me the extension log is not allowed. Is there an accepted way to post a log file?
I have the v1.12, so Iunderstand there is some process Ineed to do to be able to view the log in Megalogviewer? And from there would I be able to do a "print screen" to capture the image and post it?

DO A TPS 'HARD' RESET look in the 'How to!' If your TPS is not fitted to the TB properly, it will give you all the same symptoms. There is no need to bugger about with the ECU. (yet).

The bike was running even worse, but now it's back to smoothness. It seemed to be an electrical issue, probably battery or ground - the two things all the electrics have in common. The bike was acting very strangely at startup - intermittent fuel pump priming, different trouble codes showing up on the ride (sensor and ECM-related codes), plus the rough running I've been trying to work out for so long. I went through all the wiring I could get to, I dis-connected and re-connected everything there was to access, inspected wires, and snugged up battery and ground connections. Bike is smooth, at least for this first ride since I did this.
I would still very much like to know what the proper way to be able to post a log file is, though.

if your getting a code 13 and the ce- light is going on cause of that I´d think it was the 02 sensor.....I was seeing the CE-light alot and when I had the bike serviced they said it was the 02-sensor but nothing too worry about. When I got the bike home it ran like shit, sputtering and coughing and the CE-light was constantly on, purchased an ECM-spy cable and a new 02 sensor, haven't seen any trouble codes since then and absolutely no coughing or sputtering

That's what I thought, too, and went out and bought a new sensor. But since I checked through all the electrical connections, the bike is fine and w/o trouble light coming on. So I have a spare o2 sensor if/when it decides to give up the ghost.

I had all this with my Uly, I reset the ign timing, and did a TPS 'hard' reset. Have you tried doing it. Mine was like new after I did it. :?

What was the fix in the end?
