I've just heard reports that on some occasions with the newer sensor type sidestand switches that it's just been either a loose switch or a switch that is just out of alignment with the stand that has caused problems.

Maz :maz: , or the Emporium -

Unfortunately he doesn't do mail order.

You could try Warrs in Chelsea, but it is unlikely that they'll have one in stock - as others have said Black Bear is probably your best hope - they will do mail order and IIRC mention UKBeg for a 10% discount.

Looking through the archives it could be a problem with the way it's aligned -

Having seen the price of them I would be tempted to circumvent it.

Does anybody know if a sidestand switch from an XB can be made to fit ?

Leave it off and turn the fault codes off.

I had this happen some moons ago. The side stand switch on the 1125 is a Hall proximity sensor switch; a bit like the switch you get on a door or window in an house with an alarm system, it uses magnets to make an electrical connection which tells the bikes ecm, (Brain), if the side stand is up or down. I got mine changed under warranty, the best way to go is to over ride same as posted by Pash.
If your stuck at the side of the road with this problem, ride in a strait line with the side stand down then flick it up with your foot once you've changed into second. Well it worked for me!.
Loads of bikes have these switches fitted now, another load of shite from EU directives as said.

And are you sure the sensor didn't just need adjusting slightly ;)

I think you might be right, I reconnected the sensor electrical connector with the sensor free from the bike, when I held the sensor up against the bolt head and then took it away all worked as it should. Mounted it back on the bike and it was OK for a while and then the engine warning light came on but I didn't have the problem with it stalling. I'll check the adjustment at the weekend but I think that could be the problem.

Cheers!
