Greetings,
My oil tank breather terminates somewhere under the starter motor and makes a bit of a mess.
Can anyone tell me how it should have been? (The original airbox/filter is replaced with forcewinder? elbow).
Any suggestions for a better solution?

The breather line goes to the back of the camcase cover. The mess under the starter is the stator wiring bung leaking or the starter gasket or the rear cylinder base gasket.

Is there a transmission vent in that area?

Yes, behind the starter, hose is routed into the seat subframe.
