Well there I was travelling along the A40 from hanger Lane out of town cutting through the traffic without a care in the world on my S3, road begins to open up, so l do likewise, just going under the Polish War Memorial Underpass move into the out side lane when the rear end starts to feel odd, gets more twitchy, move into centre lane and bike is trying to go all over the place , try to keep calm and not touch the brakes etc, traffic is heavy and moving quickly, manage to make it into inside lane.
Tyre totally flat. Unable to move the bike up the curb and onto the hard shoulder so leave on indicators, tossers everywhere giving me shytt, the rosssers even drive pass, look at me and keep going. so I thought Fcuk it if someone hits it, I would be near it to recieve the same fate.
Luckily a cyclist using cycle path helps me get it off the road, using too much effort the spoiler now scrapes along the curb, least its safe off the road and the motorists can now contiue to try to kill each other in their haste to get home..Bastids.
RAC arrives, we can't find anything in tyre, go to inflate and it appears the rubber boot on valve stem is leaking anyone experianced this before?

Another question if I may, As the rear corsa totally deflated and was ridden albeit not for too far, should I call it toast.. i.e shell out for new tyre
Managed to ride home on reinflated but still leaking tyre.
First time in ages was riding in just a leather jacket, jeans and trainers...Doh,
Second Rear puncture of year other was last month on my FXR.
To top it off, upon getting to the safety of my castle, backed the bike into garage and scraped the edge of painted mirror, all in all an expensive day, but I suppose at least still here to winge about, I mean tell my story :D and a good excuse to get the bike repainted. :headbang:
Well I know where my weekend is going to be spent and where my dwindling $$$$ is going also.
Be careful out there...over and out :sun:

Hard luck mate, still at least you're safe.

I've had perished valves on my old bike, it was picked up on the MOT. I think the tyre should be ok if not visibly damaged, but you should get it checked when you have the valve replaced.

Good luck mate.

Aren't steel valve stems the norm on Buell wheels?

I've had a steel one on an Italian bike develop pin-prick holes in the rear one before now.
My X1 is on it's third rear valve stem, the rubber rim seals becoming deformed and losing their sealy-ness on both the first two.

Not much help in regard of the original question, though.....

Ah thats it Friday the 13th thats why front brake light wiring failed on the way to the MOT for the S1 so I got a failure. Traced the fault to a broken wire so replaced the wires between the switch and the connector under the tank and then the switch broke!!!!! Luckily the GSXR donated its switch but too late MOT man gone home.

Yeah I had a back tyre go down I pushed two holes through it and plugged em with sticky plugs before I realised it was the valve seal. Tightened it up when I changed the tyre and its been ok ever since!

Whitey, I know this isn't particularly useful considering the geography involved, but I've got a 2 bike trailer you could borrow for a few weeks if you need to get bikes ooop North.
Glad you walked away from it, paint is easy to replace, skin is a bit trickier 8-)
