For anyone that wants to know i have just bought a bearing for the idler pulley on my xb from Simply Bearings (simplybearings.co.uk) mine is the single bearing double row angular contact type with 2 rubber seals. 17x40x17.5mm icluding P&P and VAT £34.85 part number 3203A2RS1TN9MT33 it is an SKF unit. I have not fitted it yet or checked it against the bike but it looks right on the bench. I will fit it soon. |

norrie wrote: That's why I always buy from a bearing supplier and always buy SKF or similar. FWIW, Unfortunately that often isn't enough. The world of bearing supplies is one of biggest "rogues and vagabonds" type markets I've ever seen. Beware cheap bearings with big names on because if they are overly cheap they will be- a)Counterfeit (yes, it's true, I have seen many counterfeit "SKF" bearings). OR b)Extremely old stock (yes, I've seen plenty of these too and bearings do have a shelf life). The quality of the bearing supplier is just as important as the name on the bearing box. I tend only to buy through big names like BSL. Just be careful what you use in safety critical applications. |
