Just a warning folks to occasionally check your sensors if it looks like the first photo then get it changed ...should look like the second pic. Don't think because it runs ok that the sensor is undamaged as mine managed 120mile on sat before it started to play up and again on sunday it managed 85miles ..........if you normally do short journeys it could be sat there waiting to bite you on the arse the first long trip you do ;)
Easy to change would have done a how to but it was cold outside lOl

Belgium, you say :?:

Braddon Good evening and welcome to another edition of 'Prejudice' - the show that gives you a chance to have a go at Wops, Krauts, Nigs, Eyeties, Gippos, Bubbles, Froggies, Chinks, Yidds, Jocks, Polacks, Paddies and Dagoes. (applause; he goes to desk at side of stage)
SUPERIMPOSED CAPTION: 'ALL FACTS VERIFIED BY THE RHODESIAN POLICE'
Braddon Tonight's show comes live from the tiny village of Rabid in Buckinghamshire, and our first question tonight is from a Mrs Elizabeth Scrint who says she is going on a Mediterranean cruise next week and can't find anything wrong with the Syrians. Well, Mrs Scrint, apart from being totally unprincipled left-wing troublemakers, the Syrians are also born skivers, they're dirty, smelly and untrustworthy, and, of course, they're friends of the awful gippos. (applause) There you are, Mrs Scrint, I hope that answers some of your problems - have a nice trip. (more applause) Well now, the result of last week's competition when we asked you to find a derogatory term for the Belgians. Well, the response was enormous and we took quite a long time sorting out the winners. There were some very clever entries. Mrs Hatred of Leicester Said 'let's not call them anything, let's just ignore them' ... (applause starts vigorously, but he holds his hands up for silence) ... and a Mr St John of Huntingdon said he couldn't think of anything more derogatory than Belgians. (cheers and applause; a girl in showgirl costume comes on and holds up placards through next bit) But in the end we settled on three choices: number three ... the Sprouts (placard 'The Sprouts'), sent in by Mrs Vicious of Hastings... very nice ; number two..... the Phlegms (placard) ... from Mrs Childmolester of Worthing; but the winner was undoubtedly from Mrs No-Supper-For-You from Norwood in Lancashire... Miserable Fat Belgian Bastards. (placard; roar of applause) Very good - thank you, Carol. (Carol exits) But as you know on this programme we're not just prejudiced against race or colour, we're also prejudiced against - yes, you've guessed, stinking homosexuals! (applause) So before the streets start emptying in Chelsea tonight, Let's go straight over to our popular prejudiced panel game and invite you once again to - Shoot The Poof! And could our first contestant sign in please.

when you say playing up, what do you mean? might be the answer to a problem i had last year, if i did much over 60 miles without letting the bike cool down it'd blow the ignition fuse, and continue to do so with every fuse until the bike was properly cold again. not done much more than 40 miles at a time lately so wouldnt know if it still does it.

mine would run ok for about 80 miles then the ignition would cut let the bike cool for 20 mins and it would start and run ok i thought it was something to do with heat but once when it did it i moved the wire coming out of the timing side and the bike started ok.

In the first photo the green putty like substance has melted and burnt along with the plastic itself starting to melt at the end where the wiring comes out.
If there is any sign of melting or burning I'd suggest change it before it lets you down ....one way apparently that sometimes shows up if they are faulty if visibly ok is to warm the sensor up with a hot air gun whilst the engine is running to see if it makes the engine cut out.

'tis not an unusual occurance Pash, mine is worse than Kevs, but still functions ok, and at 60-70 quid, it'll stay put 'til it starts playin' silly buggers

Yep but it will be ok until you decide to do a decent length run and then leave you sat at the side of the road ;) mine still ran perfect from Lauwe to Calais when starting from cold but then it takes about 20 mins to cool enough to run again and the milage between stops reduces rapidly .........I was down to about 10 miles running 20min stops on Saturday.
So £68 has to be a better option if you intend on riding :)

Silly question, maybe...but is it possible to change this at the side of the road?? Is it worth carrying as a spare in case of failure if you are doing a long trip?

Post subject:  Re: Crank position sensor

It is possible to change at roadside .....just a bit fiddly getting wires routed .........then again as a get you out of the crap / just get you home you could leave cover off and route wires outside case until you got somewhere with tools.
