Hi all,

Following on from an earlier thread where it seemed that a Datatool alarm had caused problems, I am just wondering whether there is any bike alarm system that actually works properly on Buells?

Any recommendations or horror stories out there?

Cheers,

Dave

Meta 357V2....but they're a big unit and virtually impossible to site on an XB.

As with any alarm, it's more about the installation.......takes me around 5 hours to fit an alarm but it'll be impossible to tell it wasn't installed at the factory when done......and it'll be to cat1 standard too, which is more than I can say for any other fits I've seen

when people usually hear an alarm they moan about the noise rather that go look if anything is being nicked!

Get a feckin big ground anchor and chain instead, the cost to buy and fit an alarm far outweighs any reduction in insurance you may get too ..

Move to somewhere that thieving twats don't live. Much cheaper, and better for your mental health.

I was in Corsica when you were passing through Strontian.
I've managed to aquire an Aprilia Tuono in the meantime. Sold the XB12 to a nice chap from Germany. There just wasn't enough get up and go on the XB12 for me. Enjoyed the handling, just couldn't get on with the tractor motor. Also the lack of good Buell support in Scotland just made ownership too much of a hassle for me. Tuono is the best bike I've had for a very long time.

Same here bought a brand new one with full akro system fitted a few weeks ago. Only problem is it's got a system 4 alarm on it and it's shit. Been back twice with it to the dealer.

Pleased you're able to ride anything - I thought you were struggling with joint problems. (Sorry if I'm on the wrong track there :? ) - We knew you were away - if we thought you were home we'd have been knocking on the door demanding food & drink :D

Joint problems have been better recently. I'd already committed to sell the Buell to my friend in Germany, so couldn't really let him down. I had bought lots of bits to make XB12 power back to pre-08 standards, but managed to punt them all.
As I was feeling better, I went for the Tuono. Not regretted it so far.
