Hi Everyone

Need a little advice, riding home last Friday, bike starts making an expensive sounding noise, its an XB12s 04 15k on the clock, regular services every 2.5k, Maz 10K etc

Anyway to cut a long story short, Maz has diagnosed main bearing failure on the front pot :o approx £1700 to £2250.00 to rebuild :o

Now, I do like the bike,or should I say Buells :P and was planning to trade upto a CR or look for a tuber, later this year.

Should I look for another engine or is there anybody else who can rebuild the motor cheaper ?

Not Dissing Maz, because after the 10k service it was a different bike ! but just cant afford that kind of money.

Have'nt a clue what it worth in its current state, was going to be my down payment on another Buell of some sort.

The bike is in excellent condition, you'd think its only done less than 5K.

Had thought about that, but wanted to do some kind of repair rather than just bodge it, then trade it.

Feel bad a just bodging, the dealer would surely just come back to me ?

Really sad that. Tough luck that it happened at such low miles.

So the overall opinion is that I should fill it full of Wynns and trade it :couch:

Would spend £500/600 on a rebuild if you know anybody's who would be up for it ?

Just been looking at the ex demo bike thread, funny that ! mines an ex demo bike from Sycamore HD.

Parts alone will cost over a grand....a new crank is nearly 600 quid

I'm guessing that if you did all the labour yourself the parts would cost the biggest part of that amount. I have no idea if you can rebuild XB crankshafts or not but I'm guessing that a new crankshaft would be ~£500 on its own :?:
