Seems like the OEM battery doesn't like winter, as the warning light comes on in the morning and I'm having to Optimate it every evening (this isn't easy & can't be left on over night). Looking for a replacement I've come across these (http://www.tayna.co.uk/catalog/1111/0/M ... page1.html) one of which is listed as Harley friendly. I'll check dimensions etc but does the capacity / cranking level look like a step-up on standard? BTW, it's snowing in London!!! ![]() Cheers All... Looks like the SVR battery has almost twice the power, if this link is correct. http://www.apexbattery.com/buell-1125r- ... eries.html |

If your battery is bad, this won't help, but in any case, it sounds as if you could use a trickle charger that you can keep on overnight: Acumen, or Battery Tender. My bikes would never make it through the winter without the Battery Tender to keep them charged. |

Cheers Motorrad. I've got a tender (Optimate) but I'm having to use it every night while the bike is in the street, so can't leave it on all the time. The SVR battery is expensive but seems to have much more cold crank power, which is what I need. The CR only just started the other morning, and there's no way I'm going to bump it! I was wondering if anyone else had had trouble with their OEM batteries, & what they'd replaced them with? I guess it doesn't get too cold in Maryland? ![]() Wooah; scratch that. Just checked Google maps & Maryland is pretty far north. My mistake... ![]() |

SirWazzz wrote: BTW, it's snowing in London!!! ![]() That's nothing - it's snowing here! OEM H/D batteries generally last well - sure it's charging properly? |

X1 is still running on the original battery and nearly 9 years old now .........do you do a lot of short commuting so that the battery never gets to fully recover from the discharge from all the stop starting? Also do you have an alarm fitted? |

Hi Kev... I do commute; 30 urban minutes each way & the revs are below 6k for 99% of it. The battery's fine (no warning) for the run home, but warning light is on in the morning. I was using the Buell immobiliser (no other alarm) but stopped when this behaviour started. That helped, but now the weather's cold it's doing it every morning. I didn't use the Optimate for one evening (so two days without charge) & the bike only just started in the morning. God I hope this isn't an alternator thing. In Helicon I trust!!! Good to hear that your battery has lasted nine years. Blimey!!! ![]() ![]() |

Proper Buell batterys are top quality and last well if looked after. Cheaper ones are false economy. Have you checked your charging on the bike ![]() |

Hear what you're saying about OEM batteries. That's good to know. The CR was manufactured Aug 08 & was the demo machine at Riders Bristol, so should be 're-flashed' but I'm not sure. (I should be I know, but there you go). It runs very smoothly with only a little 'hunting' on a partial low RPM throttle so I assume it's been done (if you're referring to the ECU mod Maz?) Because it was the demo machine (I got it with 1500 on the clock) I'm hoping the battery was neglected & that's the problem, but then what else might have been neglected? I don't want to think about that! I need a new battery for a CBR so I'll try that (if it fits both bikes) & see how it goes. If that's no good, I'll have to get the multimeter out... (Crosses fingers & touches wood). Could just be a loose connection though. Good shout Norrie. You now know I haven't even looked at it yet!!! Oooo... A WalMart battery!!! I presume that's at the lower end... ![]() |

Isn't your battery covered by the warranty? |

Yes Pash, I guess it is. I'm not sure if it is the battery though. Where's that multimeter, I need to know what charge is being held... ![]() |
