I would like to know from you skilled people how on earth you have changed the headers on your XB12 bikes? Thought someone mentioned that the instructions were on this website somewhere? I had the impression from Pash that it's not that difficult? As well as this, if anyone offers Header fitting please pm me because I plan to get this job done. PS; I havn't forgotten your offer Tubbs, I'm just weighing up my options, travel time etc! Cheers in advance! ![]() |

Yes that would have been a better section to ask but I thought that was for info only rather than asking questions? Can someone move this thread rather than me start a new one? |

I've found a thread from old forum. Read the relevant section in manual and ran for cover - not for me chaps I will need to pay someone to do this for me! Local HD said service time is 2.8hrs @ £80.50ph ![]() http://www.ukbeg.com/archive/modules.ph ... ng+headers |

Sometimes (but not often) I'm glad that I have a scoot with a Yamaha engine. I could understand some of these steps if there was a significant advantage elsewhere, either an innovative engineering solution or using the Colin Chapman "make one thing do two things" principle. Thus, IMO the fuel tank / frame is a good idea (if poorly executed) as is the oil tank / swinger. But what possible advantage is there to making the plugs so tough to access? Or the headers on an XB? Or removing the infamous fecking trap door? Engineering advances should be removing this sort of unfriendliness, not introducing it. IMO. |

Pain and upset. Only do this if you have the patience of a saint and an unending will to succeed, Maz helped me and I'm not a tosser on spanners but if it wasn't for him I would have broken something really expensive. All of it is pretty much common sense and I guess it's probably in a factory service manual but reading out of a book would take days to do, really. It took me at least 7 hours with Maz's help and it's graft, my suggestion would be to contact Maz and ask him how much. The results can be this good ![]() ![]() Andy |
