On my new XB12SX there is a battery lead to connect to a battery charger. But it has a strange plug on it that will not fit the normal optimate type charger.

Does anyone know if this is a standard type plug for American chargers, or is there a charger available to fit it sold in the UK?

Thanks

If you have an Optimate already, you can buy a plug from Maplins etc. to replace the one fitted to your charger.......otherwise, just fit an optimate lead to the battery.

A lot of toy and model shops sell these plugs. They're commonly used on glow plug motors etc. Cost about 30 pence each 8-)

Cheers Maz.......I am going to put a new optimate lead to the battery, but I just wondered why they chose to put that particular style of plug on the bike?

The "Battery Tender" line of products is very popular over here, so they may not have thought that feature through very well for internat'l sales.

ITs the same connection that harley davidson chargers have. Accumen do a new charger with the same connection on it. Look better than the optimate chargers, they actually tell you the battery voltage too (but for £65 they should do something good) ;)

My 2010 bike has two charge leads, one under the passenger seat is a billy no make connector. But the socket for the Optimate plug was found to be hanging just out of sight at the LH side passenger footrest bracket. In otherwords there are 2 so have a good root around.

Mine has both types, but Shaws reckon they always fit an optimate lead to all new bikes.
