The gold (or translucent amber) wheels on my XB12s are starting to look a bit shabby. So now I am looking to have them powdercoated. But what colour?
Looking for input on this.
Gold again?, blue?, two colour? what do you think?.
Im also having the subframe rails and light section painted black.

Personally I would go for either blue (that same intense blue which is on the chin spoiler) or white. Maybe white would be best??

Lots of threads on this. I talked to a few powder coaters none were able to match the colour. In the end I went for silver metallic. The look pretty good. BTW I have experimented with not using balance weights as these are the cause of most of the finish lifting. I had the last set of tyres fitted with the heavy spot, paint dot on the tyre, mounted opposite the valve. I honestly don't think that weights are necessary.

Always wondered what the dot meant. Most interesting thing I have learned in ages... Thanks!

Don't know if I'm allowed to do this but here goes I'm in the process of setting up a powder coating business and not too long ago I discovered a combination of a certain gold colour and tinted laquer (both of which I will have in stock) which when combined is virtually identical to the original colour . If you want to see the colour do a search on my posts I had my firebolt on sale a couple of months ago and had coated them myself . I should be up and running by the end of December pm me if your interested .
Also I will be stocking a colour very close to the blue wheels.

Talking of Buell paint is there a specialist in the UK that has the touch up paints that you people in the know use?

Is everybody happy about the heat involved in the powder coat process when the buell front wheel is so flimsy looking?

There are normally debates even when the wheel is quite meaty (obviously it didnt bother me on the 'prillia but i'd not so keen on PC of my Buell wheels.)

Ive already been there and the gold looks a very close match. He charges £45 per wheel. I thought about changing the colour because if I am spending that sort of money I wanted it to look like I had actually done something to the bike, rather than it looking like I had just given the wheels a good clean.
I had toyed with the idea of blue centres with gold rims, but was told where the colours merge it will be green. Maybe black with gold rims? as Im having the subframe rails painted black.
Has anyone else changed the colour of their wheels?

Maybe all blue will look too much. I have already thought of gunmetal grey and have the rails done the same colour. I originally wanted the rails done in the same colour as the frame but the painter could not guarantee a match, so that is the reason I thought of black.
