I agree with the above, especially concerned for those who think they buying are a new sports bike for £5k and end up buying a Buell.
As for picking over the bones, I used a very similar analogy a little while back.
Good luck to them.

I couldn't give a stuff about the factory closing, it's just another closure amongst many. I really feel for the families who lost their livelihood and also (but less so) for Mr Buell. I find the picking over of the corpse of the brand mildly distasteful, I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but I do feel that way a little. I think it has something to do with pure capitalism being the downfall of the factory (I have no issue with that) and yet at the same time the opportunist capitalists picking the bones to suck the marrow. In essence, I have no problem with that either. But there's been lots of it here and I guess elsewhere (though I haven't looked) and it smells a bit off. Am I the only one? |

If you like the Buell thing and can get a shot at a good deal then why not? I just hope peeps who are rushing in new to the brand don't snap them all up and get disappointed with the bikes. They don't suit everyone; their appeal and downfall in one. |

Correct, that's why there'll be bikes dumped into the market in about 18 months time maybe sooner. They always were and always will be, minority interest items and of no appeal to the majority. |

C'est la Vie. But the appeal of owning a brand new bike, last of the line at a good price is hard to resist. Never had a brand new bike, can't think of a better time. |

03 wrote: I find the picking over of the corpse of the brand mildly distasteful what picking over? not a criticism, but just curious, maybe i have missed something. yes, i feel for the folks at the factory, specially as its just before xmas, but i believe HD are willing to employ them elsewhere. with 200 people though, i guess there is a feeling of being part of a family, which makes it a bad time for them but the quality of the bikes meant something was not right in the design or production. the factory would seem to just stonewall certain questions about corrosion or premature wear(xb exhaust, and wheel bearings amongst other things). by doing that they didn't help themselves. as for the people who have had the chance to pick up a cheap 1125, i think some will be selling them next year to go back to their R1/Fireblade/GSXR/Ninja, when their mates pick up their new toys. anyone who attempts to sell them off as "last of the line" will deserve a good piss taking. |

I was wondering if I was the only one. i assume you mean people suddenly appearing with Buell's for sale that have never been on the forums before, then that is bound to happen. doesn't bother me as they wont get money from me.. just as the 'tuberista' will say Buell should have stopped making bikes in 1999 or when ever, anything else isn't a 'real' Buell etc. (not trying to start a war ok). but without HD putting money into Buell there would be about 20 people who knew each other. instead, some people know me. which is worse? |

The 1125 I rode was horrendous. If it's not a bike you would have considered buying before the amazing 'discounts', then I feel it could end in tears.
