.... to see for how long after-market bits'll be around. HD have committed it seems to maintain spares etc - but we all know about their prices. Frankly it's not a major concern to me, being an S3T (for which there have never been any bits anyway) owner - but I wonder how long folk like Rizoma, Freespirits etc will keep building fueller bolt ons. This borne from experience of the DARK DAYS during the late '90's when Guzzi looked likely to die a slow death. Suddenly everywhere started to post "while stocks last" and mysteriously started making bit's for Ducatis or anything else. Sad! |

Surely the issue is that between consumables vs "bling" So oil filters, brake pads, isolators etc are a concern .... Alloy extra light clutch lids are not really that important ... |

When the Tubers were stopped being built, alot of aftermarket parts dried up for these models. Folks like Trojan then turned all their attention to fuellers which i suppose is what you have to do if you are in business. It is worrying though if the consumable parts start getting tough to order |

But the consumable part of the market will allways be there so are the bits most likely to still be available.Things like freespirits tesioners etc will stop when they believe they have saturated the market. I plan to buy a couple of sets of isolators but can't think of anything else to worry about for a tuber as there's thousands of the old sportster engines around so i guess somebody will be making parts for them for a long time to come. Anyway i can't see any reason for anybody to start panicking about parts for a long time yet. |

![]() This one again, huh. Are we going to do the "will prices rise or fall" again as well. Matchless haven't been made in 40 years, AJS about as long, doesn't seem to be any huge issues getting stuff for them. Fecking doom-mongers. |

Norm wrote: Matchless haven't been made in 40 years, AJS about as long, doesn't seem to be any huge issues getting stuff for them. Depends where Norm. Try getting them in (say) Austria. (Somebody'll now say there's a Huge AJS following in Innsbruck)There were huge issues getting even basic things like GASKETS for older Guzzis here - Germany was easier. UK was OK-ish. Try getting gaskets for the T3 type square carbs now - It's not easy - I make'em. Many old Brit Bikes had Universal-ish bits - LUCAS/AMAL etc. Not so Buell. As has been pointed out Tubers have Sportster motors - so that's OK. The problem starts when non consumables (but known to be failure prone) drop dead. hypothetical examples - Electronic Dashes. ECM's - Brake-Discs - Switch gear! Actually my concern is more - "Will there be the demand to keep even small suppliers active". If push comes to shove I can (have & do) actually made bits from scratch. Not as tidy as Maz - but they work. PS Mate - You really need to see a dentist - A shave might no go amiss either. |

I'm glad I changed my front-end to a GSX-R K2 item... at least I've got a steady supply of folk seals, brake pads, discs etc for the foreseable future... Aren't EBC still doing stuff like brake discs and pads for the tubers? I think so. And that given that the tubers were discontinued a while ago... Oil filters are the same as the sporty ones. Most engine seals on the tubers are the same as the sporty ones. Engine internals is a different story, but how often do you have to change those? I really don't think consumables will be an issue.... |

Aye, Rik had a rather nice Stack unit on his M2.

That's life (and business) I suppose, but since Harley are looking to the far east to manufacture some products, I know for a fact that clutch cables can be made, shipped and sold for a lot less than £85. |
