Now the winter nights are with us, as well as this years project I am going to start doing the mods on my S1, one of the ones I was looking at was the alloy swing-arm from an X1. These seem to be quite easily available from the USA, my questions are reading through the posts it would appear that to convert the S1 you need a swing-arm, back axle and chain adjusters, I think also I read somewhere the axle diameter is different and also you would need bearings and perhaps the spacer in the middle, what I would like to know, does the original caliper fit?, does the swing-arm fit straight onto the block or do you need one from the X1? and any other hints anyone can give me. |

It's a fairly straight forward swap, the axles are different lengths not diameters the caliper and carrier will fit without any problems, if you get one drill a 4mm hole through the bottom of the shock absorber mount as this allows any water that gets in to drain out ![]() ![]() I have one under my bench in the garage but that may get refitted to mine again someday ![]() |

There's one for sale on Ebay US the total including import charges and postage is about £135 that would seem reasonable unless anyone had one for sale in the UK, I believe the M2 and S3 are the same. |

There seems to be a few in Germany but they are all quite expensive, there was a guy selling a Metmachex for £600, I offered him £500 but he knocked it back, I think a tapered one would look good if I polished it ,I have a good polishing wheel. |

I see you bought some adjusters , for anyone else reading this I have some spare ones and good used sets of uprated isolators. |
