When i got my S1 the previous owner had fitted a pattern ignition keyswitch, He has sent the original which he never got a key with, is it possible to get a replacement key from anywhere ,maybe using the VIN number?

Tried something similar with Harley when Buell were with them and took ages to finally be told "oh sorry can`t do that . Wasted months .

There is a place near Maz's called keyfax. If they are given a barrel they can cut a key to it. Not sure how long it takes or how much this is or if paperwork of proof of ownership is required. Surely there must be somewhere nearer the border that does this sort of thing.

If you have a key lockable fuelcap it is not linked to the ignition being the same .

There's no such thing as a lockable fuel cap, any rotary pin key will undo it.

Sorry about the delay to answer i may try and get a locksmith to make me a key, the barrel that is on it is OK but sometimes it rotates with the key even though I have tightened it.

The ignition should have two straight sides to locate it in the bracket to stop it spinning.

Here is a photo of an S1 bracket I copied which takes the ignition and choke. I welded a stud on it for fixing as some have a bolt which clashes with the wire at the back of the ignition.
The smaller bracket is for an X1 choke as ignition is on the dash.
