Surely the coating would be comprised with the stretch of the spring

If you use a show chrome it does believe it or not has some stretch to it,the main issue is getting it on without damaging it.

As always it would be stainless for me. No hassle with plating & will never rust.

please don't use pliers, we had a
contractor loose an eye doing that recently .

use the correct tool
