Can anyone recommend an independent mechanic/dealer to service my XB12X?

I used to use an HD dealer but if there's a competent and cheaper alternative I'd like to try that.

Thanks

I know it's not a Buell dealer, however I recently had the pleasure of buying a new bike with the help of our much loved Steve Loxton who was filling in there. The attitude, service & general communication was a breath of fresh air. Just a plug for Cooperp in Northampton..... The bike was brill too. Hope they go far.

Aw shucks :oooops: It was a pleasure and Cooperb are the go to dealer for Royal Enfield and Benelli. Funnily enough Pete, their technician, was a Buell tech back in the days of the RS1200 and RSS1200, that was before my time even lOl

It's the 30k service.
Brakes, oils and filters and belt I do myself.

I know Maz is highly recommended but living south of the Thames I was hoping for somewhere more local - assuming i take the most direct route it's 230 miles each way to Dunkinfield along the worst motorways in the UK.

Mate, you're closer than some I know down here on the South Coast who joyfully make the trip, myself included.

30k nice one!

Yeah Dukinfield is about the same for me too give or take. That's a big service, maybe a few days labour so after you've factored in the more than reasonable rate (£40ph) and van hire from Enterprise (£30 x 2 days, for a comfy new transit) tank of diesel x 2... You're still up on HD £100ph, an independent on my old bike receipts in London was charging £80ph too.

Amazingly, he charges cost for parts too... plus you'll get the best workmanship on your machine this side of East Troy (signed off by Erik himself, see at reception)

The motorway aint too bad GX...I've been up there probably 7 or 8 times the last 2 or 3 years, just time it right. The café across from the Emporium does a good full English for a fiver while you wait for the workshop to open.

I am due for another 10k this year, I need my touring Buell to be extra reliable on the big trips so I'll be going to Dukinfield.

Hope this helps.

Yes it does take some planning, but it's like a pretty good feeling to know you have the best anywhere in the world fettling your pride & joy. Do it right first time & once.
