OK, so what has everyone else done to damp/protect the headstock area frame paint from the alloy of the front mount of the tank.

I've got some 3M 8671 HS helicopter tape but the difference in radius of the small frame cross bar and the alloy mount will need something a little thicker I feel.

Just looking for ideas......

Bit of fuel/oil pipe sliced down the middle at the front.

Two pairs of these things in the middle.

The pre-recall rubber mount at the rear with a bespoke top hat spacer to ensure the tank isn't under any stress from front to back when screwed down.

Don't suppose you made any spares?

Nope but is an easy 'blue peter' type job.

I think you are correct. Possibly not a good idea having the recall plate with teeth chewing into the ally tank. A piece of flat plate with appropriate spacer is probably better.

I had sorted that anyway, I was about to get arsey with Holt works if he had done some recall on brackets and clamps and not included me seeing as I modified the brackets originally for him.

Just to finish the tale I used some wing leading edge/helicopter tape to protect the frame areas.

Two layers around where the nose of the front mount goes and around 16" wrapped around the 'cross bar' to increase its diameter in line with the cut out in CNC front mount.

Final solution for the Holtworks, to ensure it fitted properly and wasn't rattling :o

- 5 mm thick rubber bonded to the original tank mounts on the frame rails to take up slack under the tank

- machining the alloy 'nose' to reduce width slightly and avoid contact with frame near the headstock

And just fitted some new Metzeler Roadtec 01......looking forward to riding it a little more in 2018

or cut a small length of fuel line, on a black frame you wouldn't even notice it
